Aman Heran

Co-Founder/Director

Aman Heran is the co-founder and one of the Head Coaches of AthElite Basketball Academy. Aman played 2 years at the University of Calgary where he was a co-captain and an integral part of the University of Calgary’s Canada West Title and CIS national semi-final appearance in 2003-2004 season. Aman also played 3 years of collegiate basketball in the United States. After graduating from North Delta Senior Secondary in 1997, he went on to play two years at De Anza College in San Jose, California. In his freshman season, Aman was named to the Second Team All Coast Conference, averaging 18.7 pts/game.

Aman then went on to play one season at Eastern Oregon University before moving back to Canada. Aman has played professionally in the ABA & IBL. Aman was born in India and moved to Canada when he was five years of age, he is recognized as one of the best players in BC and has had tremendous success in his basketball career which he plans to pass on to the younger generation. He brings a wealth of knowledge, leadership, and energy to the table and he hopes to impact the youth in the lower mainland as a mentor/coach whether it is through basketball or education.

Surinder Grewal

Co-Founder/Director

Surinder is the co-founder of AthElite Basketball Academy. He played three years at the University of Calgary where he graduated with a Degree in Economics and a Diploma in Accounting in 2005. In the 2004-2005 Surinder finished the season 9th in the nation in scoring at 19.3 points per game while shooting over 50% percent from the field. He was awarded a Canada West 1st team all star and all Canadian nomination. In the 2003-2004 season Surinder played an integral part in the University of Calgary’s Canada West Title and CIS Nationals semifinal appearance.

In the 2002-2003 season he finished 1st in the nation in 3 point field goal percentage @55.1%. Surinder also played two years at Kwantlen Polytechnic University earning a BCCAA Provincial 1st Team All Star award in the 2001-2002 campaign. He finished 3rd in the province in scoring both seasons @ 20+ points per game and was Most Valuable Player for Kwantlen both years as well. Surinder brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the table and he hopes to impact the growing youth in the lower mainland in a positive way whether it is through basketball or education.
